Here’s the final nail in the coffin of open plan offices

Many companies have switched from traditional offices to open layouts with the aim of creating greater opportunities for interaction and collaboration between individuals and teams. Yet the open plan concept is often so poorly implemented it has the opposite effect, as new research from Harvard Business School reveals negative outcomes for both productivity and work relationships. Libby Sander, assistant professor of organizational behavior at Bond University, shares key findings from the research and how organisations need to achieve an effective balance between interaction and collaboration and privacy and concentration.
