We can only apply mental effort to one task at a time. If we have to juggle multiple tasks, it can take time to refocus our attention each time we interrupt one task to deal with another. And our performance and productivity rate suffer as a result. With focused attention, we can selectively concentrate on a particular activity and remain absorbed in it while ignoring distractions around us, or letting our minds wander. And being able to maintain focused attention is the key to getting more done. Lindsay Tigar shares here some focus-forming habits that will help you extend your attention span and accomplish more.
