4 types of tools that every social media manager should use

Smart social media managers are always on the lookout for tools that make their jobs easier.

With so many options from which to choose, it can at times become a serious challenge to find management tools that make doing social more efficient and effective.

The busy business owner may also find it difficult to find the time to manage his or her social media presence while managing the day-to-day issues of a growing business. This is where the right mix of tools can save you time and money.

Let me share a few of my favorites with you.

For your website: Google Analytics

googleAnalytics

This might be considered an oldie but still tops the list of analytical tools. Social media may lead readers to your site, but Google Analytics data will tell you if readers found your information valuable enough to stick around once they arrive.

In its simplest form, this tool can tell you how many people visited your site and where they came from. It also gives you detail on their behavior once they’re on your site: how many people clicked on specific links, how much time they spent on your site, and how they traversed your site, to name just a few functions. This information is key to measuring how your website is performing and if your content is engaging your audience.

For Facebook, Twitter and Instagram: Agorapulse

agorapulse

Many social media managers find themselves managing multiple platforms. With new ones appearing almost daily, we’re always on the lookout for the tools that make this channel-to-channel hopping easier. That’s why I want to share my favorite one: Agorapulse.

Using this one tool you can manage all three of these platforms from one easy-to-use dashboard. Agorapulse allows you to schedule posts and manage conversations across channels and accounts.

Through its reporting feature, Agorapulse shows you the best day, time, and subjects to publish and which customers engage most with your content. Who could ask for more?

For Pinterest: Tailwind

Are you on Pinterest? Pinterest gives users a space for everything from DIY projects to information on the latest social media trends. So what’s the best tool for managing multiple boards with ease? My pick is Tailwind (formerly PinLeague).

Tailwind is a complete Pinterest management tool that comes with its own set of easy-to-follow analytics. From this app, you can schedule your pins, view pin statistics, analyze your competitors, view your top repinners, and find your most influential followers.

You can also schedule multiple pins from within Chrome using their handy bulk upload extension. This app gives you lots of flexibility and is affordable for bloggers and small business users.

For B2BS (Businesses Selling to Businesses): Oktopost

oktopost

Most social media marketing tools place much of the focus on the business to consumer markets, but what about the business to business user? This is where Oktopost comes in.

This useful social media management platform gives B2B managers the ability to manage their presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. This tool is able to track a social media post from the initial posting all the way to lead conversion.

Every item shared is tracked and can be synced with marketing automation tools such as Salesfusion and Marketo, just to name a few. This tracking helps to keep you in the know every step of the way.

New platforms seem to emerge almost daily. One way to avoid feeling overwhelmed is to find a few that work and work well. Then there’s less temptation to look through all those tools out there!

These are a few that land on the top of my list.  What are some of your favorites to manage your social media? We’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
