My MasterMind journey begins

A snapshot of yesterday's Mastermind group

Yesterday I took part in my first online MasterMind group with CEO WORLD. My decision to join came after hearing Leo Bottary speak about The Power of Peers at the ANJE 30th anniversary conference in Portugal in July and then reading Leo's super book of the same title.

It's a few years since I've been a member of in person peer groups and when I heard Leo speak about the benefits I realised just how much I missed being a part of one, and the safe, nurturing environment it provided, but as I travel a lot I can't commit to a regular in person group, so doing it online with CEO WORLD was perfect for me.

I was very much looking forward to today's session and it certainly delivered. We were a total of seven individuals from around the world. As it was the first session we introduced ourselves, and our businesses, and set some objectives.

One of the things that struck me is how although we're from different countries and business types working in different markets, there were certainly lots of similar challenges we're facing as business leaders, and to hear the experience of people from other industries was very refreshing indeed.

It's wonderful to experience an environment where everyone wants the best for you and your business and where experience and suggestions are freely shared. Like our #ShapingtheOdds community.

I felt like I'd been with six super mentors for a whole two hours, which passed too quickly! Now, under the usual mentorship programs this would cost a lot more than CEO WORLD and I'd be limited to probably one mentor. Here I've got access to a whole group, and I have the opportunity to support them too. It's a win-win.

We even had half an hour with two awesome guests from Silicon Valley – Nuno Pedro Business Angel and Partner at Delta Partners Group, and John Gale CEO at Taligo and Carverlon – whose experience we could leverage. Now, how often does that happen? For me it'll be every month and I don't even have to be in Silicon Valley to benefit.

The content of the MasterMind groups is confidential, so I can't go into detail, but suffice to say I highly recommend joining (the right) peer group to any entrepreneur, at any stage of your entrepreneurial journey. It's never to late, and no matter how much you think you know, there's always something you can learn and share and have fun in the process.
